Comic Relief grants – new theme – Financial Inclusion of older people

‘Managing Money Better’ – A new grants programme promoting the financial inclusion of older people

£2m of funding will be available in 2012 for projects which help older people cope with the challenging financial climate and the exclusion and hardship they may be facing. There will be two grant cycles in 2012 – in January and April.

PRIORITIES: They want to hear about ideas that can bring about substantial improvements to older people’s lives; to support them to build their skills and knowledge, to manage their money effectively, to guard against financial scams and abuse, and to deal with cold homes.

CRITERIA: They’ll be looking to fund organisations who have some experience of working in this area, as well as those that involve older people in the design and delivery of the activities. They’ll favour projects that develop strategic partnership approaches with voluntary, private and public organisations including local people (of all ages) to meet the needs of older people. They’ll also ensure that our funding targets isolated older people and those who live in the poorest and most deprived areas.

Full details including guidance notes on how to apply and expression of interest forms will be available on their website from January 2012.
