Local NHS invites public to get involved in shaping local health services

Vale of York CCG Public Meeting – Tuesday 19th March 2013, 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Clements Hall, Nunthorpe Road, York YO23 1BW
NHS Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the new clinically-led organisation responsible for identifying and buying health services in the area, is inviting members of the public to attend an event and input into the future vision for healthcare services in the Vale of York.

The event will take place at 3pm on Tuesday 19th March at Clements Hall, Nunthorpe Road, York YO23 1BW.

At the event, the CCG will present its vision for improving healthcare in the area and will be asking members of the public to work with the CCG in developing plans for the future.

Dr Mark Hayes, Chief Clinical Officer at NHS Vale of York CCG said: “We know the NHS is facing significant national and local pressures, including a growing ageing population, more people living longer with long term conditions and an increased demand on services.

“We are developing our future plans against this backdrop and we want to consider forward thinking and innovative solutions to meet these extra demands and to improve outcomes for patients.

“We are fully committed to engaging with our local communities and this event will be the first step to encouraging people in our area to participate in our future decision making.”

Big Board Talk – 15 questions trustees need to ask

The Charity Commission has designed a checklist to be suitable for all charities to use when looking at what they do and how they do it. The 15 main questions will not all be relevant to every charity – it will depend on your charity’s size and how it operates. The checklist reflects a good practice approach your charity should use when regularly reviewing the way it operates, and this approach becomes especially important in a changing or uncertain economic climate.

The checklist is a template which can be used to help structure a discussion as an agenda item at your trustee meeting, away day discussion or planning meeting. It will also help you to develop a plan and timetable for action. The Charity Commission strongly encourages trustee boards of all charities to use this checklist.

March Community Engagement Forums Dates

Do you have concerns about your local area and local services?

If the answer is yes then pop along to your local  Community Engagement Forum

Community Engagement Forums (CEFs) are public meetings at which you can raise any concern or make any comment about your local area and your local services.

There are five CEF areas within the Selby District.

Central, Eastern, Southern, Western & Tadcaster & Villages

This is a chance for you to have your say about the issues that are important to you and the place where you live.

The Forum meetings give you a chance to speak directly to the people who deliver your local services

for example:

  • Policing
  • Fire Service
  • Street cleaning
  • NorthYorkshire Highways/Road safety

All forum meetings will be in two parts

Open Session/ Market Place at the beginning of the meeting

This will be a half hour informal setting with tables and stalls where you can talk directly to people who deliver your local services e.g. Health Service, Access Community Officers, North Yorkshire Highways, North Yorkshire Fire Service, North Yorkshire Police and local councillors.  Local community groups are often in attendance.  Meetings are often themed.
