Selby District Association of Voluntary Services (A.V.S.) is a local infrastructure organisation working in partnership with others for the benefit of our community.

  • Selby District A.V.S. provides help, support and information to voluntary and community groups.
  • Assists in identifying unmet need in community care, and works in partnership to develop mechanisms to meet the identified gaps.
  • Liaise and work with local business, commerce, industry, and all statutory agencies.
  • Promotes and facilitates multi-agency working.
  • Organises conferences, seminars, training events and general networking meetings.
  • Is governed by a Trustee Board. Trustee Board.
  • Provides frontline people services.
  • Provides a full resourced meeting,conference,interview and training suite in Selby for other organisations. Community House
  • Provides serviced office accommodation for use by other organisations. Community House

Would you like to be an affiliated member of Selby District AVS? We are your local support organisation.

As an affiliated member you are able to access the full range of services listed below.

  • Inserts into quarterly newsletter.
  • Show your links,news and events on the AVS web site.
  • Purchasing support and knowledge sharing to achieve economy of operation.
  • Photocopying (colour and black and white).
  • Internet Access.
  • Funding support.
  • Governance/ monitoring and evaluation support.
  • Training.
  • Business Planning.
  • Clerical Support.
  • General Help and Support.
  • Consultation Exercises.
  • Seminar and Conference Planning.
  • Preferred access to meeting/training/interview rooms or other facilities within Community House.
  • Invitations to planning meetings, conferences and other seminars.

Affiliated members are also entitled to nominate and vote for Selby District A.V.S. trustee board members from the following year.

Affiliated members receive a quarterly newsletter showing up-to-date information and changes in legislation which may affect voluntary/community groups. The newsletter is also a notice board for member groups to promote themselves and any events they are organising.
